Bayefsky is a Canadian painter of watercolours and oils, and since 1978 he has painted the ancient and unique art of the tattoo, capturing its exquisite symbols and characteristics. Black hard cover with white Japanese titling in a simple red border and blindstamped titling on front, coloured end papers, Japanese title page printed on a lovely textured paper. Introduction written by Julie Rickerd and Paul Duval, illustrated throughout with colour and black and white plates, a two-page Chronology, two pages of Exhibitions, one page of Collections, 39 pages in all. Very light rubbing to spine ends and corners. Dust jacket has light shelf wear, edge wear to spine ends and corners, a small chip at top of spine missing. This is a very handsome book - clean, bright and tight.
