Nutt et al., 1733.12mo, a reprinting of a periodical begun in 1709, pp. iv, 330, 10 (index); iv, 312, 16 (index), brown calf boards with brown morocco label and gilt ornaments to spines, bookplates on front paste-downs, apparently pasted over other bookplates. Contains Issues 51 through 189 of Bickerstaff's Lucubrations, better known as The Tatler, a creation largely of Joseph Addison and Richard Steele, with occasional contributions from Jonathan Swift. The publication was a literary and society journal that lasted about two years but had a much longer-lasting impact. This offer is for Volumes 2 and 3 of a 3-volume set. The bookplates are of the Earl of Northesk, a Trafalgar hero.Condition of these books:Covers rubbed at edges, worn all over, joints cracked. Insides generally clean, overall good. Size: 12mo. 2 volumes of the 3-volume set. Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact.
