Chicago: A. C. McClurg & Co., 1924. First Edition. Very good in its original brown cloth covered boards with dark brown text on the spine and on the front board. A 12mo of 7 3/8 by 4 3/4 inches with rubbing to the cloth at the head and heel of the spine and with the cloth worn through over the tips of the boards. Without its issued dust jacket. The contents are clean, tight and free of foxing, tanning or any previous ownership markings. This copy is in a first state binding with "A C McCLURG & CO." at the base of the spine in two lines. 346 pages of text followed by an un-numbered leaf titled "How Burroughs Wrote the Tarzan Tales" by Robert H. Davis the last two pages of which are missing. Illustrated with a frontispiece from a painting by J. Allen St. John.
Synopsis
Tarzan and the Ant Men is the tenth book in Edgar Rice Burroughs' series of novels about the jungle hero Tarzan. It was first published as a seven-part serial in the magazine Argosy All-Story Weekly for February 2, 9, 16, and 23 and March 1, 8, and 15, 1924. It was first published in book form in hardcover by A. C. McClurg in September, 1924. The story was also adapted for Gold Key Comics in Tarzan #174-175 (1968).
