New York / Boston: Thomas Y. Crowell, 1894. Revised edition of the second of Daudet's stories of the adventures of the bumbling Tartarin, here among the mountains & their people. The first edition in English was published in 1887; this revised edition was published in 1894 in a variety of bindings by Crowell, with no indication of the translator or illustrator, no later printings noted. Hardcover, as pictured; this edition has numerous small but detailed illustrations on decorated pages. Book shows some wear, corners bumped & rubbed, spine tanned; ink name (Katherine Wentworth Sanborn, daughter of Madison, Wisconsin lawyer & judge Arthur Loomis Sanborn) & 1898 date.
