VINETIA, 1540. Rarissima opera del 1540 di una delle prime guide per i mercanti scritto da Bartholomeo di Pasi da Venezia. Si tratta di un manuale per i pesi e misure del Mediterraneo e dell'Est ad uso dei mercanti veneziani del XVI secolo, una delle primissimi fonti per lo studio delle unita di misure veneziane e i suoi partner commerciali. L'opera permetteva di eseguire la conversione tra la moneta veenziana, pesi, misure e unità delle altre città stato italiane, vicini europei e località più esotiche nel Levante, Nord Africa, Medio Oriente e Oriente, incluso Costantinopoli, Aleppo, Tripoli, Damasco, Cipro, Corfu, Rodi e Creta per molti oggetti come perle, sete, lana, zafferano, mandorle, fichi, oli, oro e argento. Stampato per la prima volta a Venezia nel 1503, poi nel 1521, e a seguire nel 1540 e nel 1557. Questo esemplare mostra molti segni di uso e antiche note manoscritte, è stato probabilmente posseduto da un ricco mercante del tempo. In discrete condizioni ma completo Copertina in piena pergamena coeva con titolo manoscritto al dorso con lievi usure ai margini e dorso. Parti mancanti e piegature al piatto posteriore. Legatura in discrete condizioni con lievi rotture e copertina in parte staccata. All'interno le pagine si presentano in buone condizioni con fioriture e lievi gore d'umidità ai margini. It is a manual to the measurements of the Mediterranean and Near East, this pocketbook for sixteenth-century Italian traders is one of the foremost sources for the study of the metrologies of Venice and her trading partners in the early sixteenth century. It enabled conversion between Venetian currency, weights and measures and units of other Italian city-states, European neighbours and more exotic locations in the Levant, North Africa, the Near and Middle East, including Constantinople, Aleppo, Tripoli, Damascus, Cyprus, Corfu, Rhodes, and Crete for many items as pearls, silks, wool, saffron, chestnuts, figs, galangal, vegetable oils, gold and silver. It was printed for the first time in Venice 1503, then again in 1521, for the third time in 1540 and in 1557. This copy shows many signs of usage and ancient notes from a unique hand, it was probably been owned by a rich merchant of that time. Ancient handwritten notes. In fair conditions but complete.
