Map, black and white photographic plates, xv + 169pp, index, bibliography, notes, dustjacket worn along extremities with some nicks and closed tears, name front free endpaper, front free endpapers and reverse of worn dustjacket foxed. A sound secondhand copy. Chalmers, trained by the London Missionary Society, served in New Guinea for 24 years from 1877 to 1901. This biography presents a rounder picture of his unconventional personality than the work published about him previously. .
