Half bound leather with dark blue cloth to front and back boards, gilt titling to spine, front and back boards beginning to loosen at hinge, all edges show shelf wear: top edge worn to boards, soiling to boards, foxing throughout, pages toned particularly around edges, former owner's name written in ink (1859). Limited marginalia. Good condition.

Book in English with German translation following each chapter. "Tales of the Alhambra is a collection of essays and stories by Washington Irving, an American author. It was inspired by his 1828 visit to the palace known as the Alhambra in Granada, Spain. The book combines description, myth and narrations of real historical events, even up through the destruction of some of the palace's towers by the French under Count Sebastiani in1812, and the further damage caused by an earthquake in 1821" (Wikipedia).
