Tako - Japanese Kite Book

Hardbound bright blue heavy paper boards hold the text block together with an orange cord. The front board has a colorful kite and text in red and black. The spine shows rubbing and wear along the back strip but the title in black text is readable. All of the cardboard edges are worn with small blemishes to the boards. All corners are worn and have bumping. Spine is straight and firm with wear and slight rounding as it wraps around to the covers. Text block is solid, all pages are firmly attached with no damage where the pages are attached with the cord. Slight age tanning throughout on the top and bottom of the pages. Interior pages are clean with no tears, cracks, or previous owner marks. On the rear inside cardboard is a half-page pocket which contains three kites with necessary bamboo sticks to build but the string and supplies to build are missing. The pocket has been torn and taped. "Tako" or kite have a long history in Japan dating back to the import of kites from China by the Buddhist monks during the Nana period (A.D. 645-794). In addition to the kite making supplies the author also covers the topics of: Stories about Japanese Kites, Kites of Many Shapes and Kinds, How to Make a Japanese Kite, and Kite Flying and Kite Battles. Tatsuo Miyawaki was also the creator of numerous origami books.
