Laid in a handwritten letter from Douglas Nisbet (a descendant) 17 lines discussing the publication of the book. Dated 1859 Short tears along the gutter at the top on both volumes. Mitchell C King's copy with his ownership signature on each title page. King a South Carolina planter studied in Europe and friended Bismarck and corresponded with him
