Adam Walker was an 18th-century scientist known for his numerous lectures on a variety of topics including mechanics, hydrostatics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electricity. Many of these lectures were included in this 1799 printing of the 'Familiar Philosophy'. The first lecture is of particular interest – discussion on light, zodiac, and the power of fire! It should be noted that this impressive edition contains 47 copper engravings.
