A System of Architectural Ornament by Sullivan, Louis H Press of America, 1924 Facsimile, folio size Hardback in good condition text is clean and unmarked, binding tight, the unbound plate 9 is missing. Cloth cover shows wear with rubs on tips front edges otherwise clean. THIS IS STATED FACSIMILE EDITION Sullivan was well known architect in his day. Know for his lavish ornament in which he combined organic forms interwoven with geometric structure. One of his better known buildings is the Guaranty Building for which in turn he is often described as the "father" of the skyscraper. He was also a mentor to the Prairie school among them Frank Lloyd Wright is quoted as saying " These little masterpieces of poetic imagination the poet in him comes forth on the record as a free, independent sprit" . At the time of publication the Fountainhead was said to be based on aspects of Sullivan's career. This folio size book contains 20 drawings (#9 which was loose is missing) B&W illustrations. A must for any student or lover of art
