Philadelphia, PA, [the author], 1861. 8vo (24.1 x 15.5 m). Title page, 201 pp. Later green buckram with gilt title on the spine. An important review of the world wide distribution of Cretaceous Mollusca, with synonymies, compiled by the American palaeontologist and malacologist William More Gabb (1839-1878). Although not stated, this is an offprint from the Proceedings of the American Philosophical Society. Inscribed by Gabb on the front wrapper, being a dedication to a Dr Buckley, about whom we do not known anything else yet. Small stamp of the American malacologist Richard Irwin Johnson (1925-2020) in the top margin of the front free endpaper recto and front wrapper. Repair to front wrapper edges; small stain to the lower margin of the first few leaves, otherwise very good.
