About This Item

Firm binding, clean inside copy. DVD (unused) in sealed envelope. OVERSIZE! No priority/international, except by arrangement. Profusely illustrated. "Througth a student initiative, three Frankfurt synagogues destroyed in the 1938 Reichspogromnacht (known as Reichs-kristallnacht of the 'Night of Broken Glass') were computerreconstructed in the spring of 1995 by students of the Department Computer Aided Design (CAD) in Architecture at the Darmstadt University of Technology. The reconstruction of these buildings, resulting from studies of the Nazi period, was to serve as an admonishment as well as a memorial. At the same time, the historical architectural importance of the buildings was to be called to mind. Encouraged by the very positive response to the initial project, the decision was made to expand it to include the computer reconstruction of 15 other well-known German synagogues. The goal, beyond the political aspect, was to create a representative overview and inter impression of the diverse synogagal architecture that, prior to its destruction, existed in Germanu." - Publisher.
