London: The Macmillan Company, 1893. First Edition. Very Good. Signed. 2 Volumes. First edition, first printings. Both inscribed by Lewis Carroll. Volume I inscribed "Mrs. Burton with kindest regards / Dec. 12. 1889," and Volume II inscribed to the same recipient, "Mrs. Burton with the Author's kind regards. Dec. 28. 1893." Very Good, with darkening to spine panels and light bruising to spine ends. Sylvie and Bruno Concluded boards bowed a bit; in a Very Good dust jacket, with shadow of removed over-price sticker, likely supplied, lightly edge worn and with a toned spine. A lovely set, inscribed by Lewis Carroll.
Synopsis
Sylvie and Bruno, first published in 1889, and its 1893 second volume Sylvie and Bruno Concluded form the last novel by Lewis Carroll published during his lifetime. Both volumes were illustrated by Harry Furniss. The novel has two main plots; one set in the real world at the time the book was published, the other in the fantasy world of Fairyland.
