First novel by Nicolson, blue clothtip wear, spine faded and cloth is frayed at head and tail of spine covers are scuffed in spots, inner hinge to front cover split showing mull but still holding, text block split between pages 120-121 also showing mull but still holding, front paste-down and rear end sheet browned causing one page of advertisments to brown. 278 pages with 24 pages of advertisments for other publications by Constable.
