About This Item
London: William Heinemann, 1921. Cloth. Very Good. Max Beerbohm. The 1921 signed/limited edition. #110 OF 275 COPIES SIGNED BY MAX BEERBOHM at the limitation. An unusual copy as well in that IT BOASTS THE STYLISH BOOKPLATE OF LEGENDARY ART PATRON JOHN QUINN (whose collections of modern art and original manuscripts were considered among the finest in the world and whose financial support of writers such as Ezra Pound and T.S. Eliot --not to mention his groundbreaking battles against censorship-- changed the course of Modernism and 20th century literature). A solid, presentable copy to boot. Tight and VG in its purple cloth, with bright gilt-titling to the front panel and faded titling along the spine. A bit of offsetting as well along the top-edges, overall fading at the spine, foxing to the pastedowns. All edges gilt, tipped-in plates, printed tissue guards. Wonderful collection of pointed, very witty Max Beerbohm caricatures.
