It deals with the way of life, the background, experience and character of the people whose families for generations lived through good times and bad in this area. It presents a side of the effects of the TVA which has often been overlooked. Hazel Tallent grew up in Rhea Springs, Tennessee. She has returned to the area only once since the town became part of the Tennessee River. No Surrender is her first book.
