Leather ruled in gilt, with stamped spines and gilt titles present to the spine. All edges gilt. With marbled endpapers. Boards are very lightly worn to the extremities. No ownership marks present. Foxing Present. Text is free of marks. Binding tight and solid. A sometimes whimsical account of feminine adornments, via various umbrellas, parasols, gloves, mittens, and fur muffs. A charming document in the history of fashion. And physical attributes over history. The author states "I have here but collected a heap of foreign flowers, and brought of my own only the string which binds them together" Octave Uzanne (14 September 1851 31 October 1931) was a 19th-century French bibliophile, writer, publisher, and journalist. E-78; 8vo 8" - 9" tall .
