About This Item

[Palo Alto, California]: Kodansha International Ltd, 1971. Fine condition in a Near Fine dust jacket, complete with the publisher's SCARCE original orange wraparound band. PHOTOS UPON REQUEST. The band is lettered in English and Japanese. It reads, in part: "A work as many-sided as its author -- that philosophical muscle-builder, that romantic classicist, that Spartan sensualist... A brilliant exersise in style that is calculated to inspire..." The jacket is protected by a removable mylar sleeve. The clear-plastic sleeve is rubbed with light edgewear. NOT price clipped ($6.95). NO owner's name or bookplate. NOT a library discard. NOT a remainder. Pages are clean and unmarked. Bound in the original gilt-stamped reddish-orange cloth. Complete with dust jacket and SCARCE wraparound band. Jacket design by Y. Mishima. From the jacket: "The road Mishima has taken to salvation is a highly personal one. Yet here, ultimately, one detects the unmistakable tones of a self transcending the particular and attaining to a poetic vision of the universal.". Third printing of the 1970 original. Hardcover. Fine condition/Near Fine dust jacket. Illus. by NOT a library discard. 107pp. Great Packaging, Fast Shipping.

About About Books

About Books (Genny and Michael Winne, proprietors, formerly of Parsippany, New Jersey) has been selling rare and OP books since 1985. Besides book fairs and mail-order catalogues, long-time collectors and dealers will remember our lengthy For Sale ads in the Antiquarian Bookman and similar magazines. Our inventory of over 40,000 volumes is especially strong in the specialties listed, but contains fine books in a variety of other fields as well. Because most of our books are stored in protective boxes, rather than on shelves, they cannot be viewed as a whole. If you wish to visit us to examine specific titles, please provide 24 hours notice and we will make them available for your inspection. Phone calls to (702) 750-2722 are welcome, but please, only between the hours of 8am and 10pm (west coast time).
