About This Item

NY: The Macmillan Co.. Good with no dust jacket. 1902. Limited First Edition. Original Cloth. Remember, as a book condition, good isn't (good, that is). The good news first. This is one of a limited edition of 100 large paper copies, printed on specially made paper. The interior is "fine", with slightest browning of the page edges. Now the bad news. The hinges are cracking, but worse is yet to come. The vellum spinehas darkened & faded, and is badly chipped at the top, with a tear, and a 3/4x1 1/2" piece missing at the top. The edges of the boards (called paper-over-boards, as they were only a fragile paper covering over the boards) has been reinforced at the edges with green tape. There is a very faint damp stain to the last couple pages, with no other moisture damage. The gilt on the cover is present and unworn, but dulled. Certainly enjoyable as is, but perhaps what we normally call a "binding copy." Meaning one which would best be preserved by being rebound. We find them the way we find them. A sad story where it came from, but not to go into it here.; Hardcover; 6 1/2x9 1/2" .
