New York: Random House, 1965. First Edition First Printing . Hardcover. Very Good/Good. Octavo. 242 pages. Hardcover with a green dust jacket, now in mylar. The jacket shows rubbing and wear and is not price-clipped. Jacket has a 1 1/2 inc tear at the top left corner of the front panel, and the foot of the jacket spine is chipped. Stated First Printing on the copyright page. A sound copy; endpapers and title page are foxed, but the text is clean. INSCRIBED by the author to North Carolina historian Lindley Butler, "To Lindley, who know what this is all about, with admiration & friendship. / Burke Davis / Patrick County, Va., / 16 August, '98." Also signed on the front flyleaf by Lindley Butler and one other person.

We specialize in North Carolina, Virginia, Civil War, Old Leather, Christianity, Eastern and Western Philosophies, and the simply unusual. We very likely have the oldest books in Greensboro; we keep a nice selection of antiquarian volumes and scholarly books.
