Philadelphia: Baptist General Tract Society, 1834. Paperback. Good. [3], 106-120, [2]p. Disbound (removed from a bound volume). 17 cm. The two outer leaves are browned. All interior leaves have extensive but mostly moderate foxing. No separate wrapper present. Headed in type at top of first page No. 140 suggesting that was was No. 140 in the tracts issued by the Baptist General Tract Society. Ms. Wade had been a missionary in India and for a longer period in Burma where she probably worked among the Karen people. Wade had traveled around the country with two Burmese converts, seeking to encourage and inspire those supportive of missions among the "heathens." The Philadelphia speech was given in 1833 or 1834. Ms. Allen's attempt to reconstruct Wade's had gotten the speaker's sanction as to the correctness of facts before Wade returned to Burma.
