Texture leather with gilt borderlines and gilt deckled edges, gilt dec. spines with very faint gilt-lettered panel towards top, both spines dark and re-laid, with loss to all Vol.1 edges, otherwise clean and attractive. and Vol.1: vii+336; Vol.2: iv+355; heraldic plates of E.Isaas fr. paste-downs, pp.1-24 Vol.1 have scattered foxing, occ. fairly heavy, otherwise internally clean, tight & unmarked, Vol.2 only has a few spots of foxing to recto rear en dpaper and thin dark smudge along top t.p., top edges of text block sl.dust-darkened; Naturally, for Hannah More, heavily stresses religion throughout and I note Vol.2 has chapters 'On the Danger of an ill-directed Sensibility' and 'On dissipation, and the modern habits of fashionable life'. An important text in the history of women's education.
