About This Item
London: Day & Son [Printer], 1864. Single sided colour lithograph ticket on thin card, approximately 170mm x 125mm in size. A hint of foxing, but generally in a good state. A central text panel within a large ornate scrollwork border, with titling at head and foot, 'Stratford-Upon-Avon Tercentenary Celebration of the Birth of Shakespeare April 1864'. One of several events commemorating Shakespeare's Tercentenary. We have had a couple of the printed subscription cards for the 'Shakespeare Tercentenary Workmen's Memorial', drawn by George Cruikshank and engraved by the Dalziel Brothers, but this is the first one of these Fancy Dress Ball tickets we have seen. First Edition. Unbound. Good+. 32mo (Oblong). Ticket.
