New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1946. First Edition. Near Fine/Very Good. First American edition, first printing. Bound in publisher's beige cloth stamped in brown. Near Fine with light toning and light wear to the edges, softening to the spine ends. Browning to pages 78/79 from a clipping formerly laid in, affect adjacent pages as well. In a Very Good unclipped dust jacket with rubbing, edge wear, chipping to spine ends, and foxing and two small tape repairs to the blindside.
Synopsis
Born in Algeria in 1913, Albert Camus published The Stranger –now one of the most widely read novels of this century–in 1942. Celebrated in intellectual circles, Camus was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1957. On January 4, 1960, he was killed in a car accident.
