The Rampant Lions Press, Cambridge., 1987. First edition thus. Edited, with a Note on the Text, by Christopher Ricks. Square royal octavo. Unpaginated. [48 pages]. One of 325 numbered copies. Buckram-backed patterned paper boards. Printed in Albertus Light and Ehrhardt on Zerkall Silurian paper. The piece was first published in Günter Eich zum Gedächtnis (1973) and then in Collected Shorter Prose 1945-1980 (1984). The original text is presented as a single running line with variant readings and marginal glosses above and below, drawing on earlier stages of composition. A facsimile of the manuscript is reproduced on the endpapers. Fine in remains of the original plain glassine wrapper.
