NY: Macmillan Company, 1899. First Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. Probable second printing (copyright date is 1898), very good with no dust jacket. Brown cloth with gilt lettering on spine and front board, and the outline of a Native American in a headdress in gilt on the front board. Owner signature and April 15, 1899 date stamp on front endpaper. The frontispiece with tissue guard is partially detached. Illustrations by Ernest C. Peixotto; includes endnotes; 409 pages plus two pages of publisher's ads.
