London: Hutchinson & Co, 1908. pp 381 The autobiography of renowned English actress Ellen Terry, second edition with illustrations all present as called for, with tissue guards. Very good in red cloth, slight spine lean, spine sunned and lightly marked, edges spotted. Internally clean, the first illustration is detached but present. Ownership inscriptions of A G Bloxam 1908 and M F Wallis. This book comes from the collection of the scientist and pioneer birth-control campaigner Marie Stopes (1880-1958) which was inherited by her son the philosopher Harry Stopes Roe (1924-2014) and sold following the death of his widow Mary Stopes Roe in May of this year. Mary was herself an academic and author, the daughter of the engineer and inventor of the bouncing bomb, Sir Barnes Wallis. 1908
