About This Item
London: Hamlyn, 1968 Paul Hamlyn Ltd, London 1968. No Dust Jacket This Book Is Grubby But Acceptable On The Outside And Quite Well Preserved On The Inside. Although The Pages Are Starting To Tone A Bit, The Beautiful Illustrations And Colours Of Vladimir Machaj Retain Their Brilliance. I Have Long Been An Admirer Of Hamlyn's Children's Books, Which Were Generally Fairy Tales And Folk Tales With Beautiful Colour Illustrations By Talented Czech Artists From Artia, The State Publishing House In Prague. Hamlyn Was A Billionaire Socialist Who Partnered With The Czech Government With Extremely Good Terms Which "Enabled Him To Use Colour At A Time When It Was Unusual And Expensive For Book Publishers To Do So." A Film Of His Life Would Have Something For Absolutely Everyone, But Until Someone Makes It We Can Enjoy His Books.

About Sparkle Books
I search out used books on principle to highlight their value, keep them circulating and out of the landfill (and just because I am compelled to tell people to "read this"!)
