The MacMillan Company, New York, 1897. 9 3/8" X 6 3/4' in red cloth with fancy gilt cover design and lettering. Top edge gilt. Spine somewhat faded, and the area along the edges of the spine on both covers is discolored - a "bleached out look" possibly from exposure to moisture. Front hinge cracking. Otherwise, OK - about FAIR PLUS condition. Illustrated throughout, mostly with portraits. Printed on expensive paper, this book is AMAZINGLY heavy for its size. 436pp + 2pp of publisher's ads.. Hardcover. Fair/No Jacket.
