Ten indexed plates including frontispiece with original tissue guard paper intact; seven other indexed illustrations in text. Prev owner name penciled on ffep. Top edge of text block gold gilt. Joints and hinges sound. Dark blue cloth w gilt border, gold lettering on spine. Small rubbing to corners, light surface wear to head and tail. Second edition, stated. A very nice copy of this important treatise in defence of evolution.
