First edition, fourth impression.Bound in half-calf on cloth boards by Sangorski & Sutcliffe for The Incorporated Thames Nautical Training College. Prize book plate on front pastedown for Cadet R. H. Duckworth in 1959.'The Story of England: Makers of the Realm' is a book of history by Arthur Bryant. It details the early beginnings of England to its formation as a country. The work starts with a prelude on 'The Islanders', before heading into contents such as 'The First Invaders', 'The Coming of the English', 'Alfred', 'The Bones of Shire and State', and 'Merry England'. Arthur Bryant (1899-1985) was an English historian and columnist for The Illustrated London News. Collated, complete. Prize binding for The Incorporated Thames Nautical Training College, bound in half calf on cloth boards by Sangorski & Sutcliffe. Externally, very smart. Minimal edge wear to extremities, with a fading to leather on spine. Gilt illustration has faded slightly on front board. A bit of spotting to text block. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright throughout, with a bit of spotting to fore edge and to the first and last few pages of text. Very Good
