About This Item

New York: Scribner's, 1925. First edition. Hardcover. Very good/fair. 409p + 20 pls., 4 in color. Jacket faded, torn. The first edition of this classic reference to British sporting etchings, aquatints, and engravings. Although some art historical information is dated, the chapters on individual artists and the long checklists of their works are still useful starting points, and the anecdotal details add background color. Hunting, racing, driving, angling, shooting, other field sports, etc., chiefly of the 19th century, The author was advised by many collectors, curators, dealers, and other art experts.
