His then begins an unlikely affair with a beautiful, talented, and married lawyer. She and her husband persuade her lover to run for a key seat on the local board of selectmen. The situation becomes more complicated when the ex-baseball player also begins an affair with a somewhat desperate woman who is working for the opposition politician. The results are disastrous.
