New York: Henry Holt and Company, 1929. Original rust cloth covered boards with black lettered spine title. A near fine copy with prior owner name dated 1947 on the blank front flyleaf. Some light spotting to top edge otherwide very bright, tight and crisp. Although the original 1929 date is listed on the copyright page (leading many listings to incorrectly describe their copies as first editions) the actual date printed date was 1947 after Hesse won the Nobel Prize for literature.
