A detailed account of early steamboats in Virginia and North Carolina, compiled from early Norfolk newspapers by John Cloyd Emmerson, Jr. (1891-1980), who was a Portsmouth, Virginia amateur historian and journalist. SIGNED by the author and inscribed by him to Frank Myers. As the extended subtitle indicates, the book also provides details "of some stage lines that joined with the steam boats to form through routes of inland communication, or provide service for towns aside from the waterways; of some hotels and taverns that catered to travelers in the steam boats; and of some notable passengers who rode them." The book is clean and tight.. SIGNED. Second Printing. Paperback. Collectible-Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Book.
