Underneath is written by David, Lord Mountbatten, "From David Milford Haven, 1946." They began dating during the war while he was stationed in Australia and she travelled to Britain to be with him, pretending to her parents that she was firmly engaged to be married. (Thee another man also thought this was true!) . Boards a little rubbed and soiled, pages browned otherwise a clean copy. After her first divorce she learned to type, and got a job with the American forces who had arrived in war-time Australia. In Sydney she fell in love with a dashing British naval officer, David Mountbatten, 3rd marquess of Milford Haven, who went on to be best man when his first cousin, prince Philip married the future British queen, Elizabeth. In 1946 she flew to London to join David, and plunged into the city's social whirl. w
