The first authorized novel published during the final year of the original Star Trek television series, one of Whitman's series designed to accompany popular shows of the 1960s-1970s (see our other listings for more!). A FIRST EDITION, first printing from 1968, NOT a modern reprint! in 210 pages + 2 pages of other Whitman titles in rear. Decorative Starship Enterprise endpapers & internal illustrations by Sparky Moore. Hardcover has decorative paper over boards depicting Kirk & Spock & the Enterprise. Condition is solidly Good: very clean & bright, text block solid, but front hinge is cracked, exposing underlying webbing. Pages heavily tanned, especially around edges, commensurate with age. NO writing or underlining or highlighting; NOT ex-lib. Moderate rubbing to extremities & bumping/heavier rubbing at all corners & both ends of spine, with a few small holes on upper spine where it meets front cover.
