The story of the visionary Galileo and his struggles, set against the complex society of 16th century Italy. Blue cloth binding with White titles and gilt decoration on spine. Cover edges and spine faded, some wear to cover edges, corners and spine ends bumped, a little spotting of cover, former owner's name "Ed Shulkcum" and bookplate on front free end paper with February, 1940 date, interior pages tanned, binding tight. Illustrated dust jacket with white titles on front cover and spine has several short edge tears and chips, worn at edges with creases, some tanning, small chip at top front inner fold.
