About This Item
New York: The Viking Press, 1932. The third book published under the pseudonym "Essad-Bey" by Lev Nussimbaum (1905-1942). He was a Jew and an anti-Bolshevik who (possibly) converted to Islam. Nussinbaum wrote in German, and became a well-known and successful author. His work now is considered unreliable as history, but the context is rather wonderful. He also (possibly) wrote as "Kurban Said," and died early in Italy. A scarce title. This is a Very Good (Plus) copy of the First American Edition. Translation by Huntley Paterson. Tan cloth binding with lettering in red and black. Clean text; viii, 391 pages, indexed; red topstain. The endpapers have some foxing at the gutter; there is a bump across the top edge, but this remains an attractive copy. Lacking the dustjecket; in an archival plastic protector.. First American Edition.. Hard Cover. Very Good (Plus)/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
