About This Item

New York: Plume/Penguin Group (USA), 2004. First Printing, First Edition Thus. . Trade Paperback. Fine to Very Fine. In a pair of novellas ("The Staggerford Murders" and "The Life and Death of Nancy Clancy's Nephew"), Hassler returns to his celebrated fictional small town of Staggerford, Minnesota, where the residents of the Ransford Hotel inadvertently "solve" the cold crime murder of esteemed town citizen Neddy Nichols and the disappearance of Nichols' wife, Blanche, displaying Hassler's wry humor at its fullest. In the second novella, aging W.D. Nestor finds his loneliness dispelled by his friendship with a young boy but it takes a sudden visit to his 100-year-old aunt Nancy to find the peace he's been looking for. This is a paperback original, first printing of the first edition thus. The text is clean, tight, square; the white pictorial wrappers show just a trace of edgewear. Collectable.
