Author inscribed on the first free end paper: "To James Cramer Esq. from his Nephew, the Author". this is a child's history of toys by William Henry Cremer, Jr., a London toy shop owner, entertainer, and writer. In addition to this book he wrote children's books about the history of Easter Eggs and The Toys of The Little Folks of All Ages and Countries: or, The Toy Kingdom (See my listing of his "The Toys of The Little Folks of All Ages and Countries" book, which is also author inscribed). Bright gilt lettering & decoration on blue silk covered boards. All edges gilt. 6-3/4" x 5-1/4", 56pp., each page illustrated. ca. 1870. Delicate silk spine ends, sides & corners worn. Contents fine. Scarce.
