About This Item
First American Edition, First Printing. An x-library copy, but surprisingly clean and well-preserved. Library stamps on top edge, front endsheet and title page, otherwise unmarked. The front endpaper shows abrasion, likely from removal of a pocket. Green cloth boards with gilt and silver lettering on spine, with minor wear at extremities. Pages show the typical age-darkening. The clipped dustjacket is clean and bright, with shelfwear and one closed tear at head of spine. Protected in mylar. Author's first novel and winner of the 1960 Macmillan Fiction Award. Also the basis for the fine 1963 film with Richard Harris and Glenda Jackson. Carefully packaged and shipped in a box.
