Glendale: Arthur H. Clark Company, 1957 First edition, second issue. One of 994 copies bound in blue cloth and issued with a dust jacket. 266pp. Photos, bibliography, index. A very fine copy with slightly soiled dust jacket. 2000 copies of the book were printed in 1957, but only 1006 copies were bound at the time (in red cloth). In 1968 the remaining unbound copies were sold to Harlem Books who then issued the original sheets in blue cloth and with the printed dust jacket (as offered here). The dust jacket was printed for the original edition in 1957 but was only used in this second issue. Plainsman, trapper, buffalo hunter, Medicine Chief of the Santee Sioux, World's champion marksman, originator of the American Wild West Show, etc. [Clark and Brunet I: 250; Clark and Brunet II: 279; Six-Guns: 2207]..

About Argonaut Book Shop

The Argonaut Book Shop was founded in 1941 in the middle of the financial district of San Francisco. The Argonaut was a founding member of the Antiquarian Booksellers\' Association of America and has been a member in good standing ever since. The Shop is now located just three blocks from Union Square in downtown San Francisco and is open six days a week. Parking facilities include ample street space and a parking garage close by.
