The first edition of this charming study of speckled trout fishing, by American artist, illustrator, author and angler Louis Rhead. The first trade edition of this work, in the publisher's original unclipped dust wrapper.Illustrated with a tipped in colour frontispiece, sixteen plates, and further vignette illustrations. Collated, complete.These illustrations are the work of the editor of this work, American artist and illustrator Louis Rhead. This volume includes a collection of essays on angling, including 'The Habits of the Trout' by Wm. C. Harris, 'Baptism of the Brook Trout' by Charles Hallock, and 'Along a Trout-Stream' by L. F. Brown. In the publisher's original paper covered boards, with unclipped dust wrapper. Bumping to back strip head and tail, otherwise externally excellent. Dust wrapper front wrap detached from the back strip, with clear adhesive tape running the length of the tear. Significant closed tear to head of front wrap. Discolouration to rear wrap. Small loss of paper to back strip tail, with horizontal closed tear to centre of back strip. Small loss to head of rear wrap. Front hinge lightly strained, but firmly held. Internally, firmly bound. Spotting to title page, with pages otherwise clean and bright. Significant closed tears to one tissue guard. Very Good
