About This Item

Southern Historical Press, Inc., 1999. Soft cover. New. No Jacket By: Larry Vehorn, Pub. 1999, 134 pages, Index, ISBN #0-89308-719-X. This book is transcription of the minutes of the Baptist Church at New Prospect from the founding in 1820 until 1855. The earliest minutes for this church were lost in a fire. Sometime after 1858, an ancestor of the author copied the minutes and that copy is the basis for this work. Many families who lived in Upper Spartanburg County are well represented in the minutes. Church minutes are often the only record for families who lived briefly in an area. Also is a survey of the over 1,000 tombstone inscriptions in the church cemetery.
