San Francisco: J. M. Hutchings, [1900]. Fifth (and final) edition. Twelvemo (6 x 4 inches). [13, ads], 103, [9, ads] pp. Illustrated throughout from photographs; two maps of Yosemite (one folding). Publisher's thick red wrappers, covers with gilt lettering, red cloth tape spine. Gilt quite dulled and some general wear but clean and solid.Fifth edition (so stated on lower left of front wrapper) with the “addenda,” which was added as page [103] in all later editions. The photos are mainly by Fiske and Taber. In this final edition, the publisher finally replaced the easily chipped paper spine with cloth. Hutchings was killed in a stagecoach accident two years after this was published. Foley had taken over the job of issuing guidebooks by then. At the rear of this edition is a color map of Tahiti and a timetable for the Oceanic Steamship Company.Currey & Kruska 182.
