Blackie & Son, 1875. Hardcover. Acceptable. 1875. No Edition Remarks. 806 pages. No dust jacket. Brown pictorial boards with gilt lettering and decoration. Contains colour map plates, and black & white illustrations throughout based on original sketches by J. Wells Champney. Gilt text block edges. Contents pages are detached but present. Pages are fairly heavily tanned with noticeable foxing to endpapers and text block edges. Occasional grey thumb-marking present throughout, with a few small nicks and dark rub marks along text block edge. Slight cracking to hinges and gutters, with exposed netting. Binding remains firm. Plates are fairly bright, with moderate tanning and foxing to edges. Pale liquid stain to rear hinge. Boards have light shelf-wear with mild corner fraying and slight crushing to spine ends. Light tanning to spine and edges. Gilt is bright and clear.
