About This Item
Small 8vo. Leipzig: Karl Baedeker Publisher, 1907. Small 8vo., xxx, 335 pp., 30 color maps including many fold-outs. Full red pebbled cloth, stamped in blind, with gilt title, marbled edges. Backstrip slightly rubbed, lacking the front fold-out map; otherwise good. § Tenth revised edition. In earlier editions Southern Germany was combined in one volume with Austria, but since 1895 the two countries appeared separately. The missing map in this copy indicates how essential this edition must have been to one of it’s owners. The maps and travel plans are meant to aid the traveler so as to make him independent, and thus the captain of his own voyage, immune to the tricks and traps that befall the average tourist, and equipped with up-to-date insider information to thoroughly immerse oneself in the attractions of the country being explored.
