In the summer of 1973, the Thomasma family purchased one acre of land near the southern border of Grand Teton National Park in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. In 1977, the Thomasmas relocated to their newly-completed new home. Thomasma continued his career in education, but this time in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. During his time at Kelly, Thomasma wrote his first book, Naya Nuki: Girl Who Ran. It was completed and published in 1983. In 1986, Naya Nuki was awarded the Wyoming Library Indian Paintbrush Book Award. Since retiring from teaching, Thomasma has written nine more books: eight more titles in the Amazing Indian Children Series as well as the extremely popular non-fiction title, The Truth About Sacajawea. As an illustrator of children's books, Eunice Hundley has produced cover art and interior drawings for Mc Graw-Hill/MacMillan Publishers, Ateneum Books, Baker Book House, and Grandview Press. Her career in illustration began at the request of children's book author, Ken Thomasma during the years that she and her husband were living in Jackson Hole, to illustrate his first book, a historical novel for children, "Naya-Nuki, Girl Who Ran", followed by his second book, "Soun Tetoken, Nez Perce Boy". This book is about Soun, a little Nez Perce Boy who is adopted by the Nez Perce's Chief's son, his stallion Sunburst and his coyote pup Dusty. The story starts when he is six years old. Although mute since the death of his parents in a fire, a young Nez Perce Indian boy has a happy and adventurous life with his adopted family until a war between the white man and the Indians in the summer of 1877 and changes his life forever. A Nez Perce boy must face the growing conflict that erupts into war in 1877.
